Today’s team is:
Nick Curtis, Nick Seymour, Laurance Hunting, Alex Howard, Seti Tafua, Pat Sio, Will Miller, Jesse Parahi, David Hardisty, Alex Lavender, David Bond, Jack Freeman, Trent Lake, Sam Myers, Mitch Walton.

North Sydney Oval is in great shape however the heavens have opened and we are currently witnessing an incredible downpour. The boys are struggling with the cricket covers however eventually the covers are moved from the ground.

We move to the Bobby McCarthy stand next to the scoreboard to watch this one with Chris Fitzgerald and Peter Bender.

Mitch Walton makes a good run to get this game underway as the rain eases to a drizzle. A pass to Sam Myers who makes metres up field but puts a foot into touch in front of the ISIS signs that decorate the eastern side of the ground.

In these early phases Jesse Parahi is looking good and involving himself in many aspects of play.

Mitch Walton gains 50 metres after a penalty and we see a lineout formed on the Gordon quarter.Seti Tafua goes up high in the lineout to gain possession. The ball goes to Alex Howard who scores in the corner. Alex Lavender fails to convert what was a difficult kick and the scoreboard ticks along to Norths 5 Gordon 0.

The side line reporter is running the line as the heavens open again.

Gordon kicks off and we return it to see the Gordon player knock on enabling us to attack on the Gordon quarter. The lights are now on as day turns to night or it seems like that.

Jesse Parahi is having a great game. A penalty to Norths but we miss from close range as the ball sails to the right.

Alex Lavender is hit high and Norths get a penalty.

Will Miller makes a good break as Norths appear to be well on top. An intercept and attack turns to defence but the defence holds.

Sustained attack now as Norths spin the ball from one side of the field to the other. Conditions are not bad at the moment as we play dry weather rugby and look good.

Gordon is forced to make a change as one of their players is injured.

Conditions are deteriorating and the knock ons are mounting from both teams as players try to push the ball either too far or too fast in these conditions.

We play it in the forwards as the rain belts down. Jesse Parahi is almost over. Gives the ball to Lawrence Hunting who swivels his body and places the ball over for a hard fought try. The try is converted by Alex Lavender and the score moves to Norths 12 Gordon 0.

Norths are attacking now in front of the Bob McCarthy stand and appear to score but the referee rules that it was held up. Would be interesting to see that one on replay.

The bell rings and both teams run off to the dressing rooms for a well deserved break.

If anything conditions are getting worse. This is definitely the day to be ahead on the scoreboard.

Play is underway in the second half and in the opening phase Gordon attack the Norths line and are awarded a penalty try and a Norths player is given a yellow card.Norths 12 Gordon 7.

Gordon is making the most of the conditions and is playing the game in the forwards. Another attacking raid by Gordon sees them go in and the converted try takes them to the lead.Norths 12 Gordon 14.

This is the time to be patient and play to the conditions but both teams are throwing the long pass or aggressive short passing and as a result we are seeing knock ons galore.

Be patient I hear someone say but it is easy for us sitting in the grandstand.

Jack Freeman makes a good run up field but just when the move looks promising another knock on and the opportunity is lost.

We are on the Gordon line attacking as the full time bell rings but it is not to be…
