WARATAHS INTERN- GAME DAY MEDIA
Waratahs Rugby is looking to appoint a gameday media intern to assist with media operations for HSBC Waratahs’ FxPro 2012 Super Rugby home matches.
The successful candidate will be required to help with all aspects of match day media operations at the Sydney Football Stadium and ANZ Stadium. Full details of all eight home matches are available here:

Candidates should have some experience of working with the media including strong written and oral communication skills.

Please note this is an unpaid position and candidates would be required to work eight match days from February 25 to July 7, with additional dates dependent on finals qualification. Further opportunities may exist to help with media in the lead up to matches. This position is an unpaid position however expenses are available and some benefits are available.
NSW RUGBY INTERN- MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS
NSW Rugby Union is looking to appoint a part-time intern to assist with the promotion of the 2012 Shute Shield. Please note this is an unpaid position and involves approximately two days’ work per week from February to September 2012.
Position
Intern - Media and Communications, approximately two days/week minimum (including weekend work)
Purpose of Role
To maximise the profile of NSW Rugby Union (NSWRU) and Sydney Rugby Union (SRU) and the Shute Shield Premier Rugby Competition by executing a proactive media campaign in Sydney, NSW and National Media.
SPECIFIC TASKS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
SHUTE SHIELD
PRE-SEASON
• Collate all team information and produce a tournament media guide, profiling each club (February)
• Manage the season launch event including all logistics, club liason and media requirements
• Promote any trial matches
IN SEASON
• Produce weekly press releases previewing each round (Thursdays, from April)
• Produce weekly reviews after each round (Saturday / Sunday)
• Produce regular Shute Shield content for Rugby News
• Manage all NSWRU and SRU website content
• Actively engage all stakeholders, including clubs, fans and the general public through a social media campaign
focused around Twitter, Facebook and YouTube
FINALS
• Produce a semi-finals preview press release
• Produce a semi-finals review press release
• Manage a finals media conference including all logistics, club liason and media requirements
• Produce a final preview press release
• Produce a final review press release
• Manage all NSW RU website content
• Promote the tournament to all media channels, including proactively placing media coverage and reactively
handling all media requests in conjunction with clubs
OTHER
• Undertake any additional responsibilities as determined necessary in order to help with the promotion of the
NSWRU and Waratahs Rugby.
Knowledge, abilities and skills required (Competencies)
• Working knowledge of the Sydney club rugby environment
• Proven written ability, preferably within rugby
• Previous intern/work experience preferable
• An understanding of rugby
• A sound understanding of media production, communication and dissemination techniques
• Highly developed interpersonal, communication and public relation skills.
• Good organisational, planning and time management skills.
• Ability to perform to deadlines and under pressure.
• Ability and willingness to be flexible with working hours includingweekend/evening work.
• A commitment to uphold the values of the NSWRU.
HOURS OF WORK
This position will involve approximately two days’ work per week from February until September 2012. Regular weekend and evening work will be required. This position is an unpaid position however expenses will be paid and some benefits may be available.
